The Dream League is the Challenger Division of First Colony Little League (FCLL). The Dream League was established in the Fall of 2006 and launched Spring 2007 from one family’s desire to share the game of baseball with those individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. The FCLL Board of Directors, along with several other families, The Fort Bend Independent School District and The Arc of Fort Bend founded the Dream League in 2007 to enable youths and young adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities from all over Fort Bend County a chance to enjoy a game of baseball. Through the continuing generosity of our sponsors and donors, we are able to cover all the costs for players.
The Dream League falls under the auspices of the Little League Charter for Sugar Land's First Colony Little League and is officially part of Little League International's Challenger Division. FCLL has been a premier Little League baseball program in the United States for over 30 years and has served our community and over 15,000 players in that time.
Many of those original founding community members continue to serve and support the Dream League to this day.
When the pandemic began and the Dream League last hosted games, our roster had grown to over 120 physically and/or intellectually disabled athletes supported by our Angels in the Outfield. The Angels in the Outfield are young men and women from area Fort Bend schools who volunteer and dedicate their time to assist Dream League players during the game, becoming a loyal buddy in the process.
In 2015, the Dream League was one of two teams selected by Little League International to play in the 2015 Little League World Series Challenger Division exhibition game in Williamsport, PA. Our game was played during the Little League World Series playoffs with athletes from worldwide teams in attendance, congratulating and celebrating with our athletes after the game. This once in a lifetime honor gave our athletes and their families opportunities to display our athletes love of the game as well as their competitive desire to play baseball.
Our league depends on our community volunteers to be our Angels in the Outfield and support our athletes. We need our community volunteers to fill positions of team coaches, managers, umpires as well as Board Members. We appreciate the financial support from our donors and sponsors so we can continue our tradition of no costs for our athletes and our families.
Little League founded the Little League Challenger Division in 1989 as their adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. Any athlete with physical and intellectual challenges may participate. Our First Colony Little League Challenger Division - Dream League - teams accommodate players from age 6 to 17 and our Senior Dream League accommodates players ages 15 and up.
